NUT MILK - SOME HELPFUL INFO
i came across this very helpful article on the almond content in almond milk. If you are a drinker of almond milk and always buy store bought, this may be some useful info.
So how much almond content do you think there are in almond milk?
It may surprise you that the average in most almond nut milks is actually less than 5% compared to the standard recipe if you DIY which brings it to 18%.
Are you really paying for nut milk that's 95% water?
Making nut milks sounds like a mission (to be honest, i thought the same). But once you make one, you'll be pleasantly surprised that there is no effort but to blend and strain (a job that takes a few mins!). All you need is a blender and a nut bag that can be easily found online via Honest to Goodness and Living Synergy.
The good thing is, there are a variety of nuts you can play with - macadamias, almonds, cashews. Cashews are the best choice for lazy ones (like me haha) due to their softer texture so straining is often not necessary :)
