Cleansing is the most under-rated part of the skincare ritual. Your method of cleansing and choice of cleanser is just as important as your suncreen or serum!
If you use a cleanser that contains harsh detergents, foaming agents or filled with synthetic agents that can irritate or dehydrate your skin by stripping it dry of its natural oils, your skin can actually overcompensate with producing more oil and make things worse.
If you find your skin is too oily or dry, try switching to a gentle, balancing oil cleanser first and see how that goes. Many of our customers have noticed significant improvement just by changing the way they cleanse.
DOUBLE CLEANSING METHOD
‘Double Cleansing’ means first cleansing with an oil-based product and then following with a non-oil based cleanser.
The first clean with the oil-based cleanser is specifically targeted to do the heavy lifting, i.e. remove and melt away the sunscreen, dirt, foundation and makeup. It is important to choose one that doesn't clog pores and contain heavy synthetic fragrances or nasties.
The second clean should be a final wash with a gentle oil-free cleanser – to remove everything else that’s left behind from the first step, for a deep and thorough clean.
The result of double cleansing? Skin is left properly clean – Not stripped or dried out.
It does sound like an extra step but many of our customers have noticed significant improvements in their skin just from switching to a double cleanse method.
