We think cleansing is the most important part of the skincare ritual. Your choice of cleanser is as equally important (if not, more important) as your sunscreen and evening moisturiser.

If you are finding problems with your skin being too oily or too dry, you can try changing your cleansing product and the frequency of your cleanse.

Most people find their skin improves drastically simply from changing the way they cleanse at night.

If you wear a lot of makeup, then double cleansing in the evening may be the way to go. When we say ‘Double Cleansing’ we mean cleansing with two different products (not cleansing twice).

The first clean should be with an oil-based cleanser that is specifically targeted to do the heavy lifting, i.e. remove and melt away the sunscreen, dirt, foundation and makeup.

The second clean should be a final wash with a gentle cleanser – to remove everything else that’s left behind from the first step, for a deep and thorough clean.

Personally i believe using products with a huge and complicated list of ingredients to accomplish EVERYTHING is insane.  One simple product with minimal ingredients can more effectively accomplish the task.

The result of double cleansing? Skin is left properly clean – Not stripped or dried out.

I have noticed marked improvements in my skin ever since just changing the way i clean. Just be careful with choosing your cleansers and avoid those containing sulfates as these ingredients are some of the worst ingredients known for stripping your skin dry from its natural oils, leaving it irritated, vulnerable and causing your skin to overcompensate by producing more oil.

And if you still don’t believe how great double cleansing can be for your skincare, check out some of these articles that we have discovered all on the benefits of double cleansing:
